Some reasons why babies without CAH may test positive on the newborn screening test include improper timing of the screening test, unusual health conditions of the baby in the first days of life, and/or improper specimen collection and processing. In many cases, the retest will show that CAH is not present. It is important to have your child tested as soon as possible. Untreated CAH can result in serious illness and, in some cases, death.
